Horse Riding in Terelj National Park

Day 1:
Terelj National Park
In the morning we will leave for Terelj located about 80 km Northeast of Ulaanbaatar. It is part of Gorkhi-Terelj National Park. The park with its granite rocks, pine trees and river is a picturesque place.
Our first stop will be the Chengis Khaan Monument. The Chengis Khaan Monument is a vast aluminium monument of Chengis Khaan on his horse. It’s possible to climb to the top of the monument from where you have a gear view of the surrounding area. There is a little museum that explains Mongol empire history.
After visiting the monument we will be driving further into the park and stop at 100 monks cave. This small cave was once used by 100 monks as hiding place during communist persecution. You can see the cave wall blackened as a result of fire and smoke.
We will visit further Turtle rock and Aryaval meditation monastery at foot of mountain. Late afternoon we will arrive at our host family.

Day 2:
Nomad Family
Today we will spend full day with our hosts and get involved in many variety of daily activities of herders pursue daily. Bring animals to camp in the evening, milk horses, yaks, goats, and sheep. Process milk, make butter, yogurt and cheese. Savour delicious, fresh dairy products you help producing. Fresh yak cream and fresh yogurt are the best you have ever tasted anywhere in the world.

Day 3:
Horse Riding
Today little adventurous trekking day on horses awaits us. We will explore the surrounding area and go little deeper in the park admire the nature in Khentii Mountain range. As we leave family behind and venture into the wild, you will hear and see ever more ground squirrels, marmots and birds. The day trek on horse will take us through an area of tundra, which is the habitat of the moose. You will soon become an expert at ‘moose detection. It is a typical Siberian landscape. We will climb up the mountain through deep forest where deer, wolves, moose and bears live. Keep your eyes open!
After horse trek we will stay good bye to our host family and arrive at Ger camp in the evening. Time to take shower.

Day 4:
Cycling
Today we will further explore the beauty of the place on bikes. Our journey will take us through deep in mountains: lush, green abundant with wild flowers and plants. The valley surrounded on both sides by high, densely forested mountains and rocky formation of erosion. We will cycle through a magic combination of forested hills, granite formations and broad fertile valleys dotted with scattered Gers. To complete the perfection of nature many Gers of nomads peacefully minding their business taking care of their livestock.

Day 5:
Canoeing
Tuul river takes its source far north in Khentii Mountain range. The Khentii Mountains are a mountain range in the Töv and Khentii Provinces in northern Mongolia. The chain overlaps the Khan Khentii Strictly Protected Area and includes Mongolia's sacred mountain, Burkhan Khaldun, which is associated with the origin of Genghis Khan.
The range forms the watershed between the Arctic Ocean (via Lake Baikal) and the Pacific Ocean basins. Rivers originating in the range include the Onon, Kherlen, and Tuul - our destination river.
Generally slow flowing river with occasionally fast rapids. No hassle, quite easy canoeing with beautiful landscapes unfolding in every direction.

Day 6:
Drive back to Ulaanbaatar
After breakfast we will drive back to Ulaanbaatar. Afternoon free time. You might catch up with activities and places you haven’t done and visited on your arrival. In the evening we will go and see the beautiful cultural show enjoy the colourful and rhythmic Mongolian dance, throat singing and admire & contortionists. For our last evening we will have a fare well dinner at one of the city's best restaurant and share some unforgettable moments of the trip.
